5-25-21 THOUGHTS
It’s a simple, powerful story. We ignore it at our own eternal peril!
Key Words: HUNGRY, THIRSTY, STRANGER, NAKED, SICK, PRISON
Maybe these are the folks I need to be looking for in life? Any person who cannot help himself, the powerless, is fair mark. This follows our Sunday lesson to a degree.
God’s design is that His people would BE those who JOYFULLY GIVE and SERVE. They would be HIS AGAPE PEOPLE, who always SEEK THE BEST FOR OTHERS!
Matt 25:31-40 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. 32 "All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; 33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. 34 "Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 ‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 "The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
The FRUIT OF SERVICE is in the above! We must also note the FRUIT OF EVANGELISM! The parable of THE TALENTS also comes to mind!
What we cannot take from this parable is that what you do causes Salvation!
Eph 2:4-10 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
My Prayer:
O God, hallowed be your name. Make us lovers, as you love. Teach us to forgive as you forgive. Make us know the joy of giving and to rejoice in serving. May we bear fruit for the kingdom always. As your redeemed, make us bold to speak your name and to lift up your Son in this world. We pray always in Jesus name Amen
